Classic Pick #1 - Lincoln Park After Dark

I am all for fads and experimenting as far as nail colour is concerned. I'll play around with blues and purples, reds and corals, whites and even pinks. Why not? There's no need to be precious about colour. It can can completely alter your mood and look, yet can easily be removed as soon as you feel like something a little different. Having said that I do find myself coming back to a few favourites so thought I'd share those colours that I consider to be my classic picks.

The first is Lincoln Park After Dark, I've loved it since I first saw it. It's a very dark aubergine colour, not quite black but deliciously vampish. I think it looks best on short, neat nails and is also gorgeous on toes.

InStyle named it the best dark colour in their Best Beauty Buys for 2009 and Allure included in its Best of Beauty Buys list.

It's elegant but edgy without being too goth - definitely deserving of the first colour we profile!

Gorgeous Baby Products - Part 2

I promised you details on the second product range we have in store for babies. It's something slightly different from Australia's Jaye Niemi.

J-Baby is a room fragrance range specially designed for nurseries to create a calm, peaceful environment for babies and nursing mums.

It's hard to describe the scent but it's saturated with essential oils of Lavender Mt Blanc, Rose Geranium, and precious Roman Chamomile (long used to settle new borns); it's lifted gently with oils of Bergamot, Mandarin and Orange and finally drawn together with Frankincense.

The fragrance is lovely but super gentle and the product is completely safe for babies - no paraffin, black smoke or harmful fumes.

We are stocking the scented candle (R400) and the nursery aroma reeds (R600). They look charming and the little extras that come with the candle - a little poem and box of matches - are just fab!

I love, love, love.. hope you do too!

So that's our baby bit done! I think we need to look at some frivolous nail trends soon - so keep on checking in.

Holy cow I need another baby shower pressie!

Is is just me or do they seem to be loads of preggie girls around? I imagine our sample at Polish is a little skewed and of course Lex is expecting a little boy in September, so we have got babies on the brain!

So with babies in mind we have recently starting stocking two lovely new product ranges.

Firstly the Baby Cow Organics Range from Cowshed well-known for their cheeky but chic take on natural and organic products. All products are plant-based, contain naturally derived ingredients and are free from parabens (preservatives), petrochemicals (petroleum by-products), sulphates (foaming agents) and artificial colours. The baby range contains wild harvested meadowfoam oil, an effective emollient which is pure and soothing on baby's delicate skin.

We are stocking the Frothy Hair & Body Wash, the Buttery Bottom Balm, Milky Body Lotion and Rich Massage Lotion. Prices range from R160 to R240.

Smith's Rosebud Lip Salve has arrived

So it's been a few days since Polish's inaugural post - we've been putting together exciting pics and trends for the blog and thought I would only post something towards the end of the week, but I didn't want to wait for this.

Smith's Rosebud Salve is now available at Polish! If you don't know it - it's a favourite of make-up artists and celebrities alike. It's been around for ages, is great for dry, chapped lips and can also be used for nappy rash, cuticles and even insect bites.

Welcome to all things Polish..

I'm a little addicted to the blogosphere. I have a few favourite blogs which I look to for daily inspiration, a few that I read for laughs and some that keep me up to date with what's happening around the world. Once you start it's almost impossible to stop!

Lex and I were talking about keeping our clients and the general Polish community up to date with our news, promotions, new products and general trends and decided that a blog would be the perfect tool.
